Parco dell'Etna — Europe's most active volcano. You can walk the craters, taste volcanic wines, and feel genuinely small.
Eremo di San Felice — A beautiful hike to a remote hermitage. Ask Paul for the parking location before you head out — it makes all the difference.
Parco della Rocca di Cefalù — A lovely urban hike straight up from the town of Cefalù to a lookout with breathtaking views over the rooftops and sea.
🏘️ Towns Worth Exploring
Caccamo — Your nearest medieval town, dominated by the third-largest castle in Europe. Wander the narrow streets, grab a sausage, and soak it in.
Cefalù — A postcard-perfect coastal town with a Norman cathedral, ancient streets, and a beautiful beach. A short drive and a must-visit.
Bagheria — Famous for its baroque villas and Sicilian literary history. A fascinating half-day stop.
Santo Stefano di Camastra — The place to shop for Sicilian ceramics. The entire main street is lined with pottery vendors. Go in the morning or late afternoon — the town observes siesta and shuts midday. Seek out the shops where you meet the artist or a family member; those are the ones worth remembering.

Insana Sebastiano — One of the best pottery shops in the area. A personal favourite — don't leave without browsing.
🏖️ Beaches
Spiaggia Pietra Piatta, Trabia — Your most convenient beach, just a short drive away. Rent a sunbed and umbrella, or just throw down a towel — it's free. The bar does drinks, granita, ice cream, and food. A perfect lazy afternoon.
Fossa Dello Stinco — Another local beach worth exploring.
🍽️ Restaurants & Bars
Bragone – Cucina Pizza Grill — You simply cannot leave this region without eating here. Their pasta with pear and gorgonzola is legendary. Enough said.
Limu Restaurant — Very fancy. Very, very worth it. Call ahead, clear your evening, and prepare to spend three glorious hours savouring every course. The wine list is extensive — serious wine lovers will be in heaven.
A Ficurinnia Pizzeria e Ristorante — A fabulous family-owned restaurant tucked in the countryside. Warm, unpretentious, and delicious.
Al Nespolo – Ristorante Pizzeria — A reliable local favourite for pizza and more.
Kitipigghi — A fun bar for a drink or a bite, with lovely views of the castle in Caccamo. Great for a sundowner.
